Healthwatch Rochdale are looking for a new Vice Chair

Healthwatch Rochdale is currently recruiting for a new voluntary Vice Chair to join its existing board members in the development and management of the strategic running of the organisation.

Healthwatch Rochdale is the local independent consumer champion for health and social care, representing the patient and public's voice. It is part of the Healthwatch national network, established by the government to ensure local patients and users have a greater input to shaping and designing local services.
The Vice Chair will help to lead and steer the direction of the organisation and will take part in public board meetings and participate in statutory meetings on behalf of Healthwatch Rochdale.
The responsibility of the Vice Chair includes: 

  • Be a leader and spokesperson of the Healthwatch Rochdale board and is expected to fully understand and represent Healthwatch Rochdale and its activities.
  • Ensure involvement and accountability
  • Ensure the effective management of the business
  • Efficiently conduct board meetings and subcommittee meetings

As a professional role, the vice chair position brings great training benefits and can enhance your CV as well as carry an immense sense of purpose within the Rochdale borough through engagement with stakeholders and communities.
Although this is a volunteer role, Healthwatch Rochdale offer renumeration of expenses, great training opportunities and mentoring support throughout your time with the organisation.

 

The current vice chair, Ben Greenwood, has been Vice Chair of the board since Healthwatch Rochdale began in April 2014 but he has stepped down due to other commitments.


Mr Greenwood said: “I am honoured and humbled to have been part of Healthwatch Rochdale since its inception 12 years ago under the Lansley reforms. In that time, the organisation has achieved so many things and has become an integral part of the health and social care system in the borough. I want to pay tribute to all staff, volunteers and fellow board directors over the years who have played their part in championing better outcomes for residents. I know Healthwatch Rochdale will continue to go from strength to strength and will continue play a vital role in improving services.”

 

Firstly, thank you to Ben, for all your hard work, dedication and support you have provided to Healthwatch Rochdale and the Rochdale residents, you will be missed.
What a time to join our organisation, as we change our organisational status into a charity, we open new avenues of work and funding. The vice chair role is key to the development, operational scrutiny, and stakeholder involvement within the organisation, I’m excited to welcome a new vice chair into the organisation its a  great opportunity.
